Somehow, my main interest seems to fall into the Music side, but I'm going to need to find out about the different kinds of things I can do in Music and then see what I really want to do. There's really so much I can dream about, but I'm going to have to see what suits my interest best.

Dad tells me to do a Double Degree, which could be Music + something else. That is, after I do my A Levels. Hmmmm... Anyway, just a random thought I decided to put up here. Much to think about

I recently just went for a Survival Camp, which was held in Langkawi. It was my first real camp and to be honest, it was tough la. very challenging. I was all about wanting to pack up and leave on the first night, but forced myself to go through with it. It was a new experience, something you can look back and be proud of. I mean, you're stuck with 21 people you absolutely do not know, and probably may never see again, for 5 days. You don't shower, you sleep on mats, with the possibility of ants and mosquitoes biting you in the middle of the night, you wake up at 5am to cook breakfast and lunch, you wash the dishes, you dig holes to pee, and basically throughout the whole camp, it's hard work. They teach you to take initiative in doing things and working as a team so that you're punctual for your activities. Haha, but my group was probably one of the lazier ones. But, oh well It ended sweet and nice, and happy, and everyone decided we had a pretty darn good time, and it was one of the more memorable trips we ever had.

Will I ever go camping again? Well, sure! If I didn't have major responsibilities... And with friends and family. Yeah, that might be fun.

Here is a conversation I had with my 12-year-old brother this afternoon.

Me: Dave! I passed my Grade 8 piano exam!
Dave: *Looks at me, with a bored look* Uh huh. *Continues his computer game*

And just when I decided he's not at all interested....

Dave: Oh, the one that you were supposed to fail.

Cheeky little brothers.....

Monday, August 20, 2007

Okay Wai Hoe blogged this on (and I quote his blog) Thursday, July 12, 2007 and today is Tuesday, August 21, 2007. I had a really nice examiner though. Apparently he was the Chief of all the examiners, but according to the lady upfront, was the nicest of them all. Hehe.. Thankfully I wasn't as nervous as the times I performed my pieces in Music Makers for OTM and teachers. I don't know why, but when I'm nervous, my fingers are out of my control. But anyway, this morning I seemed to be able to breathe, lol, so it wasn't as bad as the last times I played for people. Now we just have to see if he's lenient or not, because I'm not at all confident that I'll pass.

Next up event:

Hartamas IU Day!

By the way, if you're interested, it's on the 21st of July, this Saturday from 2pm to 6pm. It's going to be held at the TTDI Community Centre. Tickets are RM20, and it's for a good cause! We're doing this for charity. There will be performances such as, dances (hip hop, salsa, etc.), singing, bands, plays and such. It will be a fun day so come and join us! Let me know if you need more details.

Dum de dum.. I shall go take a snooze now. Phew. Piano exam craze is over.

Bah, violin is next month, though. I hate exams.

How do I get myself into these things?

For Jie Ying

Thought I'd better do this for her before I forget.

Instructions : Paste the following on your blog and tag 5 to 10 people to answer the questions below. What colour do you think best associates with your friend?
Turquoise! See, I purposely changed this colour to turquoise for you. Hahaha.

5. In ten years time, where do you see your friend?
Working, probably. I'm not sure as what though. :)

6. That's all I have. And I will probably only practice for maximum 4 hours today. I missed school for this! Thankfully everyone (my parents especially) was very supportive about it. Puan Juhaini's the best la :)

I think my exam is at 9-ish tomorrow morning.

My main problem of playing classical piano pieces (or probably any kind of music, just more on classical) is my nerves. I get way too nervous when I'm performing, my fingers start to move a little too fast than the actual speed, my notes get crushed up, my heart beats 200 beats a second...it's just all over the place, and not pretty. So, I'm praying that on the actual day of the exam, I will be as cool as a cat, calm and collected, having not to worry that at that moment, I would either make it or not. Tell me that's no pressure! Haha.

I'm feeling quite okay about it - I'm just glad my mom said it's okay if I don't pass. A lot of times, I find the most comfort I can get from anyone is from my parents. I wonder why that is.

I have been sharing my nerves and worries about this piano exam to quite a number of my friends too, haha :)

My best friend said :

Don't you have to fail the first time anyway?

Which is a little true because I know a lot of people who fail Grade 8 the first time they take it, and go on to take it again the following year. I will probably be one of those people, but oh well. Haha.

When I think about it, classical music isn't my number one. Heck, I hardly ever listen to classical music, if it isn't at the MPO. I love the MPO though, it's a grand, wonderful place and makes me feel very important. hahaha..

My half-blood related brother, Aaron has been really comforting as well, giving me his words of advice, and consoling me that failure happens to everyone, and not to worry about it. Thank you, Aaronie. I don't think I actually told him what my worries were about, so this is mainly it, Aaron, haha. :)

Okaayy well, I just felt like blogging before heading back to the piano.

ps. Jason Mraz's music is love, love, love, love

take 5

Alright, so with the week just beginning and stress levels going up, I'm still standing. Haha. It's not as bad as it sounds I suppose, but I guess it's in my nature to get a little worked up when I can't do things the way I want them to, or when I'm worried about something. It's quite bad when this happens though, I tend to not get as much done. Anyhow, I can't wait till this stretch of back-to-back events is over. Until then, I'm just going to have to pull through - like so many people have told me.

I came up with a couple of things I want to do. Shall put it up here so I won't lose it.

* Learn incubus songs on guitar.
* Write new song!
* Practice my violin more.
* Practice the piano more.
* Play guitar more.
* Jam more!
* Quit delaying and take up vocal lessons again.

Wow, they've all got to do with music. Haha.

Gotta run. More later. :)

Thursday, July 12, 2007

So, the majorest thing that's going on now is.......

My piano exam is next Thursday!!!!!!

So outrageously not cool. :( Amos' is tomorrow, and it'll be so unfair that he gets to get it over with before I do, although I am struggling my ass off learning all my scales. I can't even do C right sometimes! So, yes, time is what I need right now...

Then, there's the darn monthly tests on the friggin' same week.

Then, there's IU Day!!!

Then, there's Perfects' Dinner.

We need a breather. Really.

All this happening in one month. I wonder why. There must be some reason why everything is sort of getting in the way of everything else. If that makes sense...

Can someone please tell me how exactly do I motivate myself to practice 4 hours a day of piano every day until my exam? Sigh, where was I throughout the whole year, anyway? What was I thinking leaving all this to the very last week? Donkey crap, I tell you.

And I have a hunch that I might get red marks in my report card this time.

Oh well.

I apologise for this utterly whiney post. I don't usually complain this much. Well, not really. I think.

ps. Happy Birthday, Dad

Sunday, June 24, 2007

Okay, so it's been a pretty good day today. As usual, I had my usual Sunday music lessons. The kids are just getting cuter and cuter everyday, and I'm able to relate to them a little better. It's so much fun, and sometimes I feel like I can keep doing this, in hopes that they don't ever grow up and forget me.

Yi Wenn's party was awesome! The colour theme was White, so everybody tried as best as they could to dress as all-white as possible. Haha. It was great la, people were looking pretty snazzy. ;) The games were good too! Haha, first party we've been to this year that gave out prizes. Hee hee. And I can only imagine all the effort they put in planning the party. Hats off to you guys. Happy Birthday again, Yi Wenn!

Oh yeah. I'm thinking of getting a new cellphone because mine's a little, um, well, broken-ish. I was thinking of getting one where you can transfer music in, and sounds good and not distorted, with a good camera, and looks nice, and isn't bulky, and at a reasonable price. Wow, does that sort of phone even exist? Haha, well, I'm open to recommendations, if any. I need a lot of help, because I'm pretty clueless about phones. Hehehe..

Damn, I'm hungry.
